Competing in the Huntsman World Senior Games

Writer's picture: David McDowellDavid McDowell

I just returned from a month-long trip to the West Coast that included shooting in The Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah for the third year. I had a wonderful time and came home with two gold medals: one for target shooting with an Olympic-style recurve and the other for 3D shooting barebow.

I highly recommend this event to any competitive senior (50 yrs. +) archer. If you participate in both target and 3D you really make the most of the trip. Kathy and I started by arriving on the Saturday before and went to Zion National Park. Monday was practice then Tuesday and Wednesday was target 900 round.s Thursday and Friday we shot 3D. For all us Floridians the uphill and downhill was a challenge (since there are no hills in Florida). Kathy was a real trooper walking the course, pulling arrows and keeping score for our foursome.

We have already made plans for next year's tournament.
